The Justice League has long been DC's premier superhero team, but it wasn't always a team full of DC's best and brightest. By the mid-1990's, the Justice League and been largely reduced to a string of B and C-list heroes. But in 1997 DC Comics looked to change all of that by bringing in legendary writer Grant Morrison to revitalize and relaunch the Justice League in the form of the new "JLA" ongoing series along with artist Howard Porter. As the world anticipates the release of the #SnyderCut, Marc and Remso look back upon the first story in this run, as the JLA faces a mysterious group of "heroes" who have come to "fix" the Earth. But of course...not all is as it seems with this new group, and it takes DC's top best and brightest heroes to figure it all out! Move over C-listers...the real JLA has arrived!

Stormwatch was the second major comic book - Jim Lee’s WildCATS - to come out of Lee’s Wildstorm Studios under the Image banner. By 1996 both books were floundering, Lee turned to some comic writing legends to try to turn them around, bringing in Alan Moore on WildCATS and Warren Ellis on Stormwatch. Ellis’ Stormwatch would redefine the book entirely, bringing a more political, nuanced take to the team, and would pave the way for the critically acclaimed The Authority series afterward. In this week’s episode, Marc and Remso break down Ellis’ unique take that completely turned around this floundering comic book.

In 1992, amid slagging sales and a delayed wedding storyline, DC editorial decided to do the unthinkable - and kill Superman. Marc and Remso take a look at this storyline that spanned every Superman comic book and brought scores of new fans into DC comics - including a young Marc Clair.

In this week's Second Print Comics Podcast, those rabble rousers Marc and Remso break down the Image Comics Revolution - the spark that lit the comic book industry ablaze in 1992 when seven of the top artists at Marvel - Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Eric Larsen, Jim Valentino, and While Portacio - left the corporate comic world to launch their own, independent company, Image Comics! They look at the history of the rift between creators and corporate over control of their characters over the years, from Jerry Siegel and Joel Schuster with Superman to Jack Kirby with X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. to the Image founders of the '90's. Was the Image Revolution a success? How can we rate this act of revolutionary defiance almost thirty years later? Marc and Remso break it all down for the Second Print whippersnappin' fans!
